Event Wave was honored to once again provide turn-key audio services for The Nerd Machine’s annual NerdHQ convention. We were delighted to partner with MSI Production Services and 48 Communications to help create an immersive, interactive event throughout Petco Park. Sound design for the event included production audio packages for two live performance stages, a surround-sound club system for a nightly dance party, and a distributed system throughout the ballpark concourse for background music and announcements.
Both performance stages included a variety of entertainment, including celebrity panel discussions with audience Q&A, live musical performances, film screenings, costume contests, and more. In addition to providing live sound reinforcement for thousands of attendees, we provided broadcast audio mixes for live web streaming, and multi-track audio recording for video post-production. Responsibilities also included comprehensive wired and wireless intercom systems, including talent IFBs.
We were proud to provide wireless coordination services, successfully deploying over 50 channels of wireless microphones, talent monitors, and crew communications systems across multiple zones. Even in the middle of the notoriously busy production environment of Comic-Con, wireless audio was always clean and free of drop-outs.
An all-star team of our audio engineers worked in shifts around the clock to make sure that all of the 50,000+ attendees throughout the week heard great sound throughout the sprawling venue, from early morning panel discussions, to evening film screenings, to middle-of-the-night dance parties.
Technologies deployed included a Dante digital audio network infrastructure featuring Yamaha CL5 and CL1 digital mixing consoles, Yamaha Rio stage racks, Dante Virtual Soundcard multi-track recording and Shure ULX-D digital wireless microphones. PA designs included JBL VRX curvilinear loudspeakers and JBL Vertec line arrays, as well as QSC K12 powered speakers for distributed audio. Our communication systems integrated RTS party line intercom, Telex BTR wireless intercom, and Shure PSM900 IFBs.
